Backup & Disaster Recovery on AWS
Building secure, cost-effective, and high-performance cloud environments with AWS-certified expertise.

Why?
Reliable data protection is a cornerstone of business continuity. With the right backup and disaster recovery strategy in place, organizations can ensure that critical data is always secure, recoverable, and compliant, no matter where it resides.

By leveraging the power of AWS, businesses can simplify backup management, enhance resilience, and scale seamlessly as data volumes increase. Whether centralizing branch office backups, protecting on-premises workloads, or automating cloud-native backup operations, Several Clouds helps design solutions that align with business goals and compliance needs.
With the right solution in place, organizations can:
- Transition from manual backups to fully automated, policy-driven protection.
- Securely store data in the cloud with encryption and access control.
- Meet regulatory retention and auditing requirements with ease
- Recover quickly from unexpected disruptions
- Optimize storage costs through intelligent tiering and lifecycle policies

What?
Several Clouds provides secure, scalable, and cost-efficient Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions built on AWS. These solutions support both hybrid environments (on-premises systems backing up to AWS) and cloud-native environments using AWS Backup to protect services like Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, Amazon RDS, Amazon Elastic File System (EFS), and Amazon DynamoDB.
Each engagement begins with a tailored plan based on technical and operational requirements, ensuring backups are efficient, secure, and easy to manage.
Solution Inclusions
Assessment of current backup infrastructure and processes
Definition of Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
Selection and design of appropriate AWS services and architecture
Provisioning of a secure AWS environment
Identity and access policy creation using AWS IAM
Configuration of lifecycle policies, encryption, versioning, and retention settings
Deployment of automation for incremental, scheduled, and event-based backups
Delivery of documentation, recovery procedures, and architecture diagrams
Common Use Cases
Hybrid Backup for On-Premises Systems
Transfer incremental backups from file servers, virtual machines, and local NAS storage to AWS, enabling long-term retention and cost control.
Cloud-Native Backup with AWS Backup
Protect AWS workloads through centralized policies and vaults, reducing complexity while maintaining compliance and recovery readiness.
Centralized Backup
Consolidate backups from multiple locations into AWS, eliminating inconsistent or manual backup practices.
Archival of Multimedia and Creative Assets
Securely store large video, designs, and photography assets in Amazon S3, balancing access with cost-efficient storage.
Regulatory Archive and Long-Term Retention
Ensure legal and financial data is stored in accordance with industry regulations using immutable, auditable AWS services.
How?
Several Clouds follows a structured delivery process to ensure each Backup and Disaster Recovery implementation is aligned with business continuity objectives.

- Assessment & Planning:
Several Clouds begins by identifying critical data sources, business requirements, compliance obligations, and operational workflows. - Design & Service:
Backup architectures are created using AWS-native services such as AWS Backup, Amazon S3, and AWS Data Sync. RTO and RPO targets are defined and documented. - Implementation:
Secure AWS environments are provisioned, storage tiers are configured, IAM policies are enforced, and backup schedules are automated based on the selected approach. - Validation & Handover:
The solution is validated with test recoveries. Complete documentation is provided along with architecture diagrams, recovery playbooks, and handover workshops for internal teams.
Cost Estimates
Using native AWS storage and archival services ensures a constant and predictable low cost per TB of stored data.
The solution pricing is made up of three parts:

Backup upload to AWS
The Backup and DR solution has a predictable upload cost of $0.0125 per GB.
Storage of data at rest
With the Backup and Disaster Recovery solution workflow, which ensures the proper data lifecycle in the cloud, the cost to store 1 TB amounts from $2.00 to $5.00 per month for archived data at rest.
Retrieval and download of data
The cost of restoring data from the archive depends on the retrieval speed and the number of files. Based on the use case, the retrieval cost ranges from $0.0 to $120 per TB. Download of the retrieved data - $90 per TB.
AWS Services Used
Several Clouds relies on proven AWS services to deliver high-availability backup and disaster recovery solutions:

AWS Backup
Policy-driven backup service for AWS workloads and hybrid use cases.
Amazon S3
Durable, low-cost storage tiers.
AWS Data Sync
Connects on-premises environments to AWS
AWS IAM and Backup Vault Lock
Role-based access control and write-once protection.
AWS Organizations and Backup Policies
Centralized control over multi-account environments.
